The Columbus Contemporaries is a vital Museum membership support group that offers young professionals and community-minded individuals the opportunity to experience the Columbus Museum. Membership in this group is an outstanding way to network with other professionals interested in expanding their cultural awareness through social and educational events at the Museum. A portion of the Contemporaries membership dues and event revenues are dedicated to the Columbus Museum’s educational programs. Monsters Ball
Friday, October 16th
8 p.m. to midnight

Crawl, fly or creep to the Museum for the Contemporaries' inaugural Monsters Ball. Guests will enjoy spooky cocktails, trick-or-treat snacks and a wicked good time. Be sure to disguise yourself in your best costume and prepare to dance the night away to the sounds of Mindblender.

Best costume wins a spooktacular surprise.

Corks and Canvas
Tuesday, September 15th

The Columbus Contemporaries and the Greater Columbus Georgia Young Professionals, a program initiated through the Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce, are pleased to announce the second-annual Corks and Canvas. This exciting evening will combine two of the finer things in life – art and wine – in celebrating the two groups’ efforts to promote community involvement and cultural awareness among young professionals in the Columbus area.

Corks and Canvas sponsored by Meritage Café will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Columbus Museum, 1251 Wynnton Road. The event will consist of six wine tasting, light hors d’oeuvres provided by sponsor Meritage and a private tour of the exhibition Drawing Near: Contemporary Drawings from the Permanent Collection by the Museum’s Curator of Collections and Exhibitions, Kristen Miller Zohn.

Admission to Corks and Canvas is $15 for Contemporaries and Young Professionals members; $25 in advance for non-members. Proceeds benefit the Columbus Museum and the Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce.   

Drinking & Drawing
Thursday, July 16, 2009

Please join the Columbus Contemporaries for an evening of Drinking & Drawing from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at the Columbus Museum. Guests will enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and the opportunity to view and purchase works by local artist Nicolas Gracey.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m., Gracey will teach a step-by-step drawing class to those who sign up to participate.

Admission is free for Contemporaries members, $10 for non-members.

The Drinking & Drawing class is an additional $20 for all participants (and includes art materials). Class space is limited to 35 people, so please make your reservations early.

Garden Party

8 p.m. to midnight on Friday, May 1, 2009.

Guests will enjoy a casual evening of drinks, Southern snacks and dancing on the lawn of the beautiful Olmsted Garden on the Museum grounds. Live music entertainment by Whisky Bent. Please bring your own picnic blanket or lawn chair.

Admission is $15 per person for Contemporaries members; $20 per person for non-members.

Sips and Strokes

Guests will enjoy cocktails and the chance to view and purchase artworks by local artist, Erin Fitzhugh Gregory.

From 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., Gregory will teach a guests step-by-step how to paint a masterpiece that you will take home at the end of the evening.

Admission: Members -- Free; Non-Members - $10

A Night in the Orient
New Year’s Eve Ball

Where: The Columbus Museum

Guest will enjoy an evening of cocktails, dancing and a champagne brunch in 2009. Entertainment will be provided by one of Columbus’s famous bands.
