Abandoned Property Listing
The Columbus Museum has stewardship over items that we have reason to believe may be on loan and for which the Museum does not know the owner or have any reasonable means of determining the owner. These include items such as decorative arts objects, books, documents, drawings, electrical equipment, glass, jewelry, prints, sculpture, textiles, tools, toys, and weapons; a complete listing of the items, with photographs, may be found on the Museum's website here, or may be mailed upon request by calling706.748.2562 ext.210. The Museum considers these objects to be abandoned, and pursuant to the Georgia Museum Property Act (06 SB195/AP; http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2005_06/fulltext/sb195.htm), the Museum is hereby making public notice for claims of ownership of these objects. The Museum will become the owner of the property if the present owner does not submit a written claim to the property to the Museum no later than March 31, 2012. All claims must include proof of ownership and should be mailed to Kristen Miller Zohn, Curator of Collections and Exhibitions, The Columbus Museum, 1251 Wynnton Road, Columbus, GA 31906. Upon confirming the validity of any claim filed by March 31, 2012, the Museum will make arrangements with the owner to return the property to the owner or dispose of the property as the owner requests.
