Internship Opportunities

The Columbus Museum offers internship opportunities for college and graduate students interested in careers in art and history museums. Based upon their academic training and interests, as well as availability of projects, interns work in one of the following departments: Administration, Curatorial, Design, Development, or Education. Most projects require knowledge of American art history, regional history and culture, education for K-12, publication and design, and/or proficiency with computers, internet, and social media.

Curatorial:

  • Registrar (inventory, data entry)
  • Exhibition and Collection research
  • Review the Fall 2016 Curatorial Internship description

Design:

  • Exhibition design and installation

Development:

  • Membership support
  • Grant writing and funding support
  • Publication, graphic, and web design

Education:

  • School curriculum and tour materials
  • Family guides and discovery baskets
  • Library research and maintenance
  • Technology and computer programs
  • Community Outreach

Academic Programs Intern (Fall) 16-17

 

Internships are dependent upon the Museum’s needs and are offered in the fall, winter, spring, and summer. All applications must be received at least two months prior to the start date of each internship period. Internships begin the first Monday of the month and are offered as paid or unpaid depending on the project and availability of funds. Applications may be submitted throughout the year.

Applicants must submit the following documents:
  • View the Internship Application
  • Official transcripts
  • Two academic letters of recommendation
  • Résumé
  • Essay describing candidate’s interest in the internship program
